Information You Send
Search terms
A name, place, or other entry typed into a search widget is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Effingham County Busted Mugshots does not keep or log those search terms on its own servers.
Messages and requests
If you send an email or contact message, the message and the reply history may be retained so the question can be answered and the exchange can be managed. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is needed by law or to address a security or abuse issue.
Technical Information
Normal page requests can produce basic technical records. Depending on the hosting and analytics setup, those records can include:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring page, when supplied
- Request timestamps
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies may help measure how visitors use the pages and keep features working. Browser settings can block or delete cookies. Some features may work differently after that choice.
How Information Is Used
Information may be used to operate and improve the resource, route a search request to the correct partner, understand which pages are useful, diagnose errors, and display advertising that may reflect general interests. Search-partner results and pricing are controlled by the outside provider, not by this resource.
- Keep the pages available and responsive.
- Send a search request to the selected search partner.
- Measure broad page use and navigation.
- Find technical faults and security problems.
- Support advertising and site maintenance.
Outside Websites
The pages link to the ECSO Booking Desk, jail and court systems, state corrections, federal locators, police departments, news outlets, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the other service's privacy notice and data practices govern. Review those terms before submitting a name or other information.
Some advertising partners may measure activity across different websites for targeted advertising. That tracking occurs on the partner's systems and is governed by its own notice and controls.
Who May Receive Data
Personal information is not sold by this resource. It may nevertheless reach the following categories when a visitor uses a feature or a lawful disclosure is required:
- Search partners that process a query.
- Analytics providers that report aggregate page use.
- Advertising networks and their measurement vendors.
- Law-enforcement or other government bodies responding to a valid legal order.
Security Efforts
Reasonable standard safeguards are used for the information handled here, but no internet-connected system is completely secure. This notice does not promise that a breach, interception, or unauthorized access can never happen.
Visitors Under 18
The resource is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the contact route to ask that it be deleted.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of the systems involved, a person may ask about information held in connection with a direct message. Available requests may include:
- A copy of personal information held here.
- Correction of an incorrect detail.
- Deletion of information that is no longer needed.
- Opting out of a particular processing or marketing use.
A request sent to this resource cannot change a sheriff, jail, court, news, search-partner, or state database. Direct those record corrections to the office that owns the record.
Notice Changes
This Privacy Notice may be revised as services, laws, or data practices change. The updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after posting means the revised practices apply going forward.
